I love Tuesdays.

Some of my favorite people come into the library, there’s a story time (but I’m not the one doing it!), there’s some good shows coming on, and…. it’s Top Ten Tuesday-day!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish, and this week’s theme is: All About Audio freebie —Β  aka top 10 audiobooks you should listen to, 10 books I want to listen to on audio,10 bands you should check out, 10 podcasts you should be listening to, 10 of my all time favorite albums, 10 songs I love, really whatever you can come up with.

I was having a hard time coming up with ideas for this one, because I don’t really like listening to audiobooks. But then I had an idea! Why not do Top Ten Songs to Listen To While Reading YA Historical Fiction with a Side of Magic (which you’d think would be a fairly small category, but I’ve read threeΒ books about it lately, and I’m about to start another, soΒ here we are).

And then I tried to come up with a list of songs. It didn’t go well. Instead, here are some awesome playlists to listen to while reading (they’re really good for reading anything, but I was so proud of the YA Historical Fiction with a Side of Magic that I decided to keep it).

The Ultimate Instrumental Magic Playlist

You Are Alive; Part Two

A Little Party Never Killed Anybody

Boldly Gone

Cello Music

Not Quite Hogwarts

The Enchanted Garden

Swallow Up the Stars

Okay, now that you’ve got the soundtrack, who needs book recommendations? For YA Historical Fiction with a Side of Magic, read the following books:

I’m sure there are lots more (honestly, I wasn’t expecting this list to be more than three or four titles, and yet here we are), but these are the ones I know about. I haven’t read Ink and Bone or The Diviners yet, but I have high expectations for them both, and the rest of this list is all 5 star fantastic!

  1. I just got My Lady Jane a month or so ago from my Owl Crate subscription, but I haven’t started it yet. Looks like I need to get reading! Thanks for the song lists – I love to listen to music all the time, especially while reading. My husband thinks I’m nuts. πŸ™‚

  2. Wow! What a cool idea. I love how you gave us matches. There are several on your list I would like to read, so I’ll have to keep your playlists in mind.
Thanks for stopping by My TTT.

  3. Great lists! I loved My Lady Jane, The Wrath and the Dawn, and The Diviners. I’ll definitely have to check out the other books you mention.
