In this upper middle grade series, a pre-teen international thief turns over a new leaf (sort of) to right societal wrongs in her snooty new town. For Frankie, using her less-than-legal set of skills to pull a heist against a crooked real estate mogul with the help of her new friend Ollie was super gratifying, but she's getting restless now. In the second book in the series, the potentially reformed thief dives into the dangerous and political world of trafficking exotic animals. Frankie and Ollie hear that there's a dangerous exotic animal farm supplying Greenwich's elite with lions and tigers and bears. Feeling an instant kinship with the endangered creatures locked away in their cages, Frankie makes it her mission to find the perpetrators, free the beautiful beasts, and ensnare the bad guys in a trap of her own.
dream cast for: the infamous frankie lorde: going wild
McKenna Grace as Frankie Lorde
Whoever plays Frankie would have to be able to be a chameleon. Be a middle schooler one minute, dress up as a French magazine editor the next. Plus, she has to be able to pull off some snarky one-liners, while still being believable as a powerhouse thief. Given her already impressive credits (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Ghostbusters: Afterlife), I think she’d more than be up for the challenge.
Mauricio Lara as Ollie
Besides looking the part of Frankie’s new BFF, Ollie would have to be played by a great showman. And if you’ve seen any of Mauricio Lara’s work (The Healing Powers of Dude), he’s got so much charisma and likeability—on and off screen—that I think he’d bring a whole new level of believability to the role of Frankie’s larger-than-life sidekick.
Jensen Ackles as Uncle Scotty
Since Uncle Scotty is a detective, and sort of a lone wolf (or he was before Frankie came along), whoever played him would have to be firm yet kind, serious one minute but able to bust out some major goofiness the next. I think that Jensen Ackles straddles those lines like nobody else out there (have you seen him in Supernatural?) and would be perfect as Frankie’s uncle and guardian.
Chris Pratt as Tom “Tommy” Lorde
We said dream cast, right? Frankie’s dad needs to be able to blend in anywhere he goes. And while Chris Pratt can easily stand out, I also think he’s proven that he can play the everyman (Jurassic World vs. Parks & Rec). While Tommy is more of a cameo in this book, I can’t imagine anyone being more perfect for the role than Chris.
Julie Gonzalo as Kayla
So, the character of Kayla was actually inspired by my kids’ nanny, Kayla. She’s an aspiring actress herself, so she’d be the perfect choice for the role. But if we wanted someone more established, I think that Julie Gonzalo (Veronica Mars, Supergirl) Snow White-ish, Disney-esque vibe would do the role well.
Kate & Oliver Hudson as the Brasko Twins
I actually wrote the brother/sister duo with Kate and her real-life brother Oliver in mind, so I really don’t think anyone else would be better at playing these characters than them. I’ve been a fan of Oliver’s since he was on Dawson’s Creek, and Kate is…well, Kate. Who better to play brother and sister than one of the best sibling teams out there?
