When the YouTube-famous Ghost Gang—Chrissy, Chase, Emma, and Kiki—visit a haunted LA hotel notorious for tragedy to secretly film after dark, they expect it to be just like their previous paranormal huntings. Spooky enough to attract subscribers—and ultimately harmless.
But when they stumble upon something unexpected in the former room of a gruesome serial killer, they quickly realize that they’re in over their heads.
Sometimes, it’s the dead who need our help—and the living we should fear.

What would you do if you spent the day with Chrissy, Chase, Emma, and Kiki? Where would you go to eat, hang out, relax, etc.?

We would probably meet them on their turf in Las Vegas, so we’d go shopping with Kiki on the Strip and grab donuts at Saint Honoré with the rest of the gang. Then we’d definitely go back to Chase’s house for a dip in the pool and probably talk ghosts and true crime in the pool house.

If Chrissy, Chase, Emma, and Kiki were to hang out with characters from other books, who would they be and why?

We think Chrissy would have a moment with Suze from the Mediator series by Meg Cabot (they’re both psychic mediums). Chase would love talking shop with fellow film buff and aspiring director Rachel Recht, from Aminah Mae Safi’s Tell Me How You Really Feel, even though they would definitely wind up in a debate. Kiki would have the best time going through Lola’s closet (from Lola and the Boy Next Door) in San Francisco. She’d drag Emma along to eat Ghirardelli and walk the pier on a double date with Lola and Cricket which would inevitably lead to Emma and Cricket comparing notes on their inventions.

If there was one fictional place you could travel to for a day, where would it be and why?

A pub in Ketterdam with Kaz and the rest of the Crows, hoping they’ll let us join them on a heist!

If you buried a time capsule with three items inside, what three items would you choose and why?

V: a McDonald’s Happy Meal (will it ever grow mold?), a Beanie Baby (will it finally be worth something?), and a letter attempting to predict the future (am I psychic?). Basically, I’d turn this time capsule into a science, economics and psychology experiment.

F: Three my most prized BTS photocards, which will probably one day be as valuable as classic, mint condition baseball cards.

What was your favorite bit of research you ended up not using?

The Cecil Hotel has so much tragic history that it would be impossible to include all of it in just 200 pages. One thing we didn’t find a parallel for in HORROR HOTEL — the Cecil is one of the last places Elizabeth Short (the Black Dahlia) was last seen before her body was discovered in Leimert Park.

What is your favorite quote, scene, or moment from Horror Hotel?

From one of Eileen’s blog entries:

“I see dead people. I’M THAT BITCH. -E”
