Is America ready for its first queen?
Power is intoxicating. Like first love, it can leave you breathless. Princess Beatrice was born with it. Princess Samantha was born with less. Some, like Nina Gonzalez, are pulled into it. And a few will claw their way in. Ahem, we're looking at you Daphne Deighton.
As America adjusts to the idea of a queen on the throne, Beatrice grapples with everything she lost when she gained the ultimate crown. Samantha is busy living up to her "party princess" persona...and maybe adding a party prince by her side. Nina is trying to avoid the palace--and Prince Jefferson--at all costs. And a dangerous secret threatens to undo all of Daphne's carefully laid "marry Prince Jefferson" plans.
A new reign has begun....
“The morning had dawned dreary and gray, with a mist that hung over the streets of the capital. It was, the media correspondents all agreed, appropriate weather for a funeral.”
I just started MAJESTY by Katharine McGee yesterday, and I’m already loving it! This is an amazing first line, and it really sets the mood for how the first few chapters are going.
You can participate too! Just grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line. To see what First Lines others are sharing this week head over to Hoarding Books. Link your posts in the comments and have a splendiferous week!
My first lines are from MINUTES TO DIE by Susan Sleeman:
Chapter 1
Exposed. Kiley felt exposed. Standing there. In the dark. Waiting. Waiting.
Intriguing! Happy reading! 🙂

Happy Friday! Today, I’m sharing the first lines from Wedded to War by Jocelyn Green. “When Charlotte and Alice told their mother they were taking the omnibus down Broadway, they weren’t lying. They just didn’t tell her where they would be getting off.”

My line is from A Nurse for Jacob by Caryl Macadoo “”Lydia admired the two-story building from the corner of Gaienne and Old Levee Streets, strode up the walk, then stopped at the front of the Touro Infirmary and adjusted her cap.”

Happy Friday! 🙂
I’m currently reading A Life Once Dreamed by Rachel Fordham. I’m on chapter seven so I’ll share the first line from there:
“Sam Landon made his way over to the schoolhouse, toolbox in one hand, lunch tin in the other.”
I hope you have an excellent weekend! 🙂❤📚
