From #1 New York Times bestselling author and rom-com queen Becky Albertalli comes a buoyant new novel about daring to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight in love, life, and, yes, theater.
Contrary to popular belief, best friends Kate Garfield and Anderson Walker are not codependent. Carpooling to and from theater rehearsals? Environmentally sound and efficient. Consulting each other on every single life decision? Basic good judgment. Pining for the same guys from afar? Shared crushes are more fun anyway.
But when Kate and Andy’s latest long-distance crush shows up at their school, everything goes off script. Matt Olsson is talented and sweet, and Kate likes him. She really likes him. The only problem? So does Anderson.
Turns out, communal crushes aren’t so fun when real feelings are involved. This one might even bring the curtains down on Kate and Anderson’s friendship.

goodreads review

You know when you read a book and you just feel seen? That’s how I feel about this book. And not just because Kate has arguably the best name in all of Becky Albertalli’s books (although she definitely does and I am definitely not at all biased), but because Kate is just so… real. Plus all the romcom moments make me go *heart eyes forever*!!!

HELLO YES I LOVE THIS COVER!!!!! IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND it doesn’t actually show up in most of the pictures, but the gold is GOLD FOIL AND IT IS SO PRETTY!!!!!!

11/10 stars!!!

  • Everything by Becky Albertalli!
  • The How & The Why by Cynthia Hand
  • You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson
  • Going Off Script by Jen Wilde

I have a fuck ton of these today (24 to be exact), so I’m putting them under a spoiler warning so that you can opt not to see them if you don’t want to load all the images! There are NOT any actual spoilers in the quotes!
