It’s time for my favorite readathon!

read a thon tbr

I posted my TBR earlier this week, but I’ve since added another book that I received as an ARC this week and decided to possibly switch my audiobook. So my updated TBR currently includes:

  1. Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli (ebook)
  2. Not If I Save You First by Ally Carter (ebook)
  3. The Oracle Queen by Kendare Blake (novella)
  4. When We Caught Fire by Anna Godbersen (ARC)
  5. Bingo Love by Tee Franklin (Graphic Novel)
  6. All’s Faire in Middle School by Victoria Jamieson (Graphic Novel)
  7. The Time Museum by Matthew Loux (Graphic Novel)
  8. Mega Princess by Kelly Thompson (Graphic Novel)
  9. Cleopatra: A Life by Stacy Schiff (Audiobook)
  10. Radium Girls by Kate Moore (Audiobook)

Pre-Event Survey!

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

I’m reading from Maine, USA!

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli!

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

The raspberry danish I just bought myself. Yum! πŸ™‚

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

Tomorrow’s my birthday!!! I’ve been looking forward to this weekend for MONTHS. πŸ˜€

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

So last Readathon I had to work until 4, but today I have the WHOLE DAY to just read and blog and be part of the bookish community! I’m wicked excited for all of it! πŸ˜€

Mid-Event Survey!

1. What are you reading right now?

About to read Bingo Love by Tee Franklin!

2. How many books have you read so far?

1 graphic novel and one novel, plus I made progress on novel #2, so like… 2 1/10?

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?

Honestly, I’m really excited to get back to The Son of Neptune, which is what I was reading before the readathon started.

4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?

Self-interruptions! I’ll be super focused and then I find myself watching a DCOM or playing Hogwarts Mystery again and all I want to do is be reading?? But I’m not??

5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?

How hard it is to stick to reading!!

Update #1: [8:51am] I started the day with a short graphic novel and I finished it before the end of Hour One! Mega Princess by Kelly Thompson was an amazing and beautiful and hilarious story. I highly recommend reading it if you need a break from something serious! Now it’s time for some breakfast, mini-challenges, and deciding what book I’m going to start reading next!

Update #2: [1:12pm] I’m a little more than halfway (56%) through Leah on the Offbeat. IT’S SO GOOD. I’m glad I saved it for today so I can read the whole thing and enjoy it. I took a little break around noon to get up and moving, talk to my mom and drop her off at work, etc. My FitBit is happy with me today because I’ve been making time to get up and moving on all of my breaks! It’s beautiful out here today, so I think the puppies and I will spend the afternoon outside together. I had meant to do my mini-challenges during this break, but I ended up spending time with my mom instead, so I guess I’ll do those next time I need a break from reading. Okay, time to get back to Creekwood now! πŸ™‚

Update #3: [3:55pm] I finished Leah on the Offbeat! It was SUCH A GREAT BOOK. OH MY GOD. I did a little review on Goodreads (that’s where the link takes you πŸ™‚ ) and now I’ve COMPLETELY CHANGED MY TBR. AGAIN. ugh. Well, right now I’m about to start What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera because I have all the FEELS from Leah. So thank you to HarperCollins on Edelweiss for giving me the chance to read this wonderful book that I’m super looking forward to! (also I may venture outside for some sunshine and moving and puppy love.)

Update #4: [5:54pm] I’m starting tire out a bit. What If It’s Us is about 10% read, and I spent probably an hour outside playing with my puppies. My FitBit is happy because I beat my step goal for today (yay mini dance parties!), and I’ve had more caffeine in the last 12 hours than I usually do in a week. My new glasses came in the mail today, and I absolutely LOVE THEM. I keep trying to set aside time to complete all of the mini-challenges, since they’re open all day this time (also mine is open! and lots of wonderful people have already participated!), but I keep getting distracted every time I try and do them. Maybe once the sun’s down and I don’t want to go outside anymore? Eh. I think I’ll try and read Bingo Love, see if finishing another book will get me hyped to read more. Then it’s off for a quick drive to get my mom and catch some Pokemon! Also probably eat something for dinner, since I’ve basically just been grazing on snacks all day. Okay, this is now a super long update so I’m going to stop writing now.

Update #5: [11:00pm] How am I still awake? No one knows the answer to this. I was SO PREPARED to stay up all night! I went to bed early last night so I could get enough sleep and still wake up early, but now I’ve been up for… 17 hours and I feel like I need to SLEEP. And tomorrow’s my birthday so I want to be able to get enough sleep but still be able to leave the house by noon and I just don’t know. I think I’m going to- finish this update, post a picture of my snackandread, complete my Wingardium Leviosa lesson on Hogwarts Mystery, and go to bed. I’ll for sure read some before I fall asleep, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish my graphic novel and get back to my HOO book, which is what I really want to do because gods, I MISS PERCY. All that being said, I FINALLY DID THE MINI CHALLENGES!!! I’m super excited about this, because I’ve been talking about doing them all day but then I’d get distracted and do something else instead. Now they’re DONE. Okay, so this is probably my last update until tomorrow, so good night everyone!

Artful Covers: I searched and searched and then I found the MOST PERFECT ART EVER. Someone actually did an alternate cover for Leah on the Offbeat, so that’s what I’m using here. Original image fromΒ irvinspier’s tumblr!

Fictional Pen Pal: Okay, obviously Creekwood (aka the Simonverse) has been on my mind today, and so my answer today is that I would love to have Simon and/or Bram as fictional pen pals because they are SUPER ADORKABLE AND I LOVE THEM. ugh.

Tell Me a Story: My favorite short stories are definitely the ones in A Tyranny of Petticoats and The Radical Element, both edited by Jessica Spotswood!

A Book and A Snack: Posted to my Instagram here!

Readathon Scribbles: Okay, so I did a graphic photoshop thing.

Perfect Pairings: The best pairing of all time: Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda and Oreos!!! πŸ™‚

Cover From Memory: I did this last readathon, and it was so much fun! I had a great time trying to recreate the cover of The Upside of Unrequited today! (yes, I’m on a theme, and yes, it’s totally different than what I was planning when I made my TBR)

I know it’s awful. I don’t even have a comparison photo because πŸ™

And that’s it for my mini-challenge entries! I really enjoyed all of these today, and it was great being able to do them when I had time (at 10:30 at night? wtf @me?) instead of just when they were posted! πŸ™‚

Let me know how you’re enjoying Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon today in the comments!

well wishes candy fishes kait
